Paul Kerr: Statement on Darrell Issa Retirement

January 10, 2018

San Diego, CA - Paul Kerr, a Democratic candidate for Congress in California's 49th Congressional District, released the following statement on Darrell Issa's retirement:

“Darrell Issa saw the writing on the wall.  For the past year, Republicans have focused on stripping health care from millions of people and giving tax breaks to large corporations and the rich, all at the expense of hard working Americans.  In fact, the tax proposal was so bad that even Issa couldn’t vote for it.  Americans are saying, enough is enough.  We’re going to take back the House of Representatives in 2018 and that all starts with flipping the 49th.”
Paul was raised in a middle-class community by working-class parents.  He has lived in San Diego County for over 43 years.  He’s an enlisted, Vietnam-era Navy Veteran, who served on a destroyer out of San Diego that patrolled the coast of Vietnam shortly after that war ended.  Having worked his way through college, Paul is a proud alumnus of San Diego State University.  For the past 20 years, Paul has been an owner of a very successful, small business based in San Diego.
California’s 49th Congressional District stretches from UCSD in the south, through northern, coastal San Diego County and Camp Pendleton to Orange County’s Dana Point and Ladera Ranch in the north.
