Paul Kerr raises over $500,000 in his first quarter

October 12, 2017

San Diego, CA- Paul Kerr, a Vietnam-era Navy Veteran, Democrat and local businessman will release strong fundraising results in his first quarterly report. The campaign will report raising over $500,000 this past quarter, with over 90% of the donations coming from within the state of California. This is the most any candidate in the CA-49th district has raised in a single quarter this cycle.

Paul was quoted as saying, "I am proud of the support we've received from so many people in southern California. It's clear that voters are looking for a candidate who can beat Darrell Issa in November, and I'm the only Democrat whose experience in business and whose life story reaches across party lines and appeals to Democrats, Independents and yes, even some Republicans.”

Paul went on to say, "We can't wait any longer to pass Medicare for All, to start moving the tax burden OFF working families, and to address the troubling issues facing our Veterans. Darrell Issa is standing in the way of all these important issues, and beating him is so important that I'm willing to match every dollar I raise in order to ensure that we have the resources necessary to win against the richest man in the House of Representatives.”

Paul was raised in a middle-class community by working-class parents. He has lived in San Diego County for over 43 years. He's an enlisted, Vietnam-era Navy Veteran, who served on a destroyer out of San Diego that patrolled the coast of Vietnam shortly after that war ended. Having worked his way through college, Paul is a proud alumnus of San Diego State University. For the past 20 years, Paul has been an owner of a very successful, small business based in San Diego.

California's 49th Congressional District stretches from UCSD in the south, through northern, coastal San Diego County and Camp Pendleton to Orange County's Dana Point and Ladera Ranch in the north.
